Old Fire Station Theatre, George Street (independently managed by Underground Venues)

The Old Fire Station arts centre, in the centre of Oxford, has recently finished a major refurbishment and Oxfringe has exclusive access to its main theatre for the 2012 Fringe. The space is being managed by Tom Crawshaw and the award-winning venue management group Underground Venues. It seats 90-150 and is suitable for all performance types. Slots are available from around 3pm every day of the Fringe (1st-10th). Full details available from mid-January, when applications will also open online. Standard deal: 60/40 box office split (in act’s favour) against a guarantee of ~£80-£100 per performance – but other offers available. Factory Fringe at the Jam Factory (independently managed by Heather Dunmore)

Heather Dunmore is independently managing Factory Fringe this year at the Jam Factory, safe haven for fresh food lovers and art enthusiasts.  There are two spaces which can be used – the Boiler Room, an intimate space where blackout, lighting and sound will be provided, seating 45 and the Art Room next to the restaurant, seating around 70 with minimal sound equipment but no special lighting.  Heather is looking to attract a mix of literature/poetry, music, drama and comedy with shows at 6.30, 8 pm and 9.30 pm . The Jam Factory is at 27 Park End Street, Oxford OX1 1HU. 01865 244613   www.thejamfactoryoxford.com. The restaurant, renown for its relaxed atmosphere and the quality of its fresh food, will offer pre and post-theatre dinners at special prices.

Turl Street Kitchen, Oxford

This wonderful welcoming venue has a vibrant cafe/restaurant/bar downstairs suitable for lunchtime or evening acoustic gigs.  On the first floor, the Library, Living Room and Events Space offer a great mix of performance opportunities, particularly suitable for literary events.  There is also scope for art exhibitions both in the cafe and other rooms.  For hire charges and booking arrangements contact hannah.martin@studenthubs.org.uk.

Living Room, Oxford Castle

The Library at the Living Room, Oxford Castle is welcoming Oxfringe events this year.  It is especially suitable for literary events in the Library, a private room seating over 50 with power point display facilities and a small bar.  Contact Sarah Worsley, Events Manager for more details.

Pegasus Theatre, Magdalen Road

This exciting and well-equipped new theatre space in East Oxford was host to our headline Dance event last year. The North Wall Arts Centre, South Parade

This wonderful award winning Theatre in north Oxford, converted from an old swimming pool, has hosted many Oxfringe events over recent years, including Inflatable Buddha, Bob Harris Presents, the OCM Open and many more.  The Drama Studio provides great opportunity for shorter new writing pieces to share the evening hire.  Oxford University and College venues

David Ralf, this year’s Oxford University Drama Officer is happy to give advice and information on Oxford University and College venues and can provide guidance on who it is best to contact there.  Venues include the Burton Taylor Studio (student shows only during our run), Keble College’s O’Reilly Theatre, St John’s Auditorium, Magdalen College Auditorium, Balliol College’s Pilch Theatre, Wadham College’s Moser Theatre and The Turl Street Kitchen amongst many others. Simpkins Lee Theatre

This new theatre space seating 136-150 at Lady Margaret Hall in north Oxford made its Oxfringe debut last year and is suitable for theatre, music, comedy and spoken word.  Bill Kemp would be delighted to host Oxfringe events again this year – please contact him on bill.kemp@lmh.ox.ac.uk to find out more.

St Michael at the Northgate Church

Ruskin College auditorium

Audrey Mullender, Principle of Ruskin College is a great supporter of the ideals of Oxfringe.  Ruskin has a performance hall, seating up to 140, with a raised stage and grand piano.  Please contact her on amullender@ruskin.ac.uk to discuss.

Cafes, Restaurants and Bars

There are also a variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants who have hosted Oxfringe events in the past, the Duke’s Cut pub, The Jam Factory and Copa in George Street to mention but a few – see the 2011 brochure for more information.  If you have a general query about a venue hosting Oxfringe events in the past, please email us at info@oxfringe.com.
